Emiliano Zapata (1879-1919) was a Mexican revolutionary, champion of agrarianism,
and fought in guerrilla actions during and after the Mexican Revolution
(1911-17). He inspires those who fight for political and social change
even today, most notably the EZLN. The first image above shows how
his image is used today in EZLN propaganda. The second image is a
painting by Jose Clemente Orozco inspired by Emiliano Zapata. The third
image is simply a close-up photo of this important figure in Mexican history.
