Salvador Allende's Revolutionary Rhetoric
members.tripod.com/~Mictlantecuhtli/ Allende/gachi1i.html
For those who possess merely a cursory knowledge of the man, Salvador Allende
appears to be a fundamentally contradictory figure -- a democratically-elected
Marxist President. Under closer scrutiny, however, these apparent
contradictions are in name only. According to Latin American historian
James D. Cockcroft,
Allende aimed to create “revolutionary democratic socialism” because “Allende
viewed revolution and socialism as a highly democratic process for all
people... democracy was actually the key
to revolution and socialism.”
