Date: 1818-1830

Cause: The conflict was between the president, J.M. Balmaceda, and his congress.  The Chilean navy sided with Congress while the army sided with the president.

Outcome: The war was brief and the rebels won because the army did not want to fight the navy.  Because of this victory Congress gained control over the president and the west started to gain control of the mines.
