Yaxchilàn
"green rocks"

This site is located in the Lacondona Rainforest of Chiapas, México.  Today this site has monuments that are mostly covered by trees, but still have many extraordinary carvings to see, non of which have been restored since ancient Maya civilization.  This gives Yaxchilàn a type of authentic aura surrounding its architecture.

Yaxchilàn was at one time a  large and infamous city, rivaling the magnificence of Palenque and Chichén-Itzá. It is located in the southern Chiapas region very close to the Guatemalan border. Today, most of its major monuments are mostly covered in trees. However, two of its prominent structures at the site are Temple 33 and temple of the Four Doorways.
